The second of our Colombian Micro Lots is the 2007 Las Mingas winner! Humberto's 15 years of experience have produced a phenomenal coffee that has an amazing balance of berry, vanilla, citrus, floral, cane sugar, juicy and sweet watermelon, and Australian shiraz flavors.
Humberto Gonzales received 93 points from Ken Davids at Coffee Review. Davids described the coffee as "authoritative but ingratiating, with round, ringing acidity and the pure expression of coffee fruit, a tart cherry sensation. Clean, deep, cherryish finish."
We couldn't agree with him more!
Since 2005 Mr. Gonzales has been a member of “Las Acacias”, a coffee grower association from the Belen region. “Las Acacias” is part of a government program called “Familias Guardabosques” (in English, forest keeping families) . The aim of “Las Acacias” is to become Rainforest Alliance certified.
Mr. Gonzalez attributes his success this year to picking only ripe fruits and drying his coffee in beds under a parabolic greenhouse.
