Christopher Columbus discovered Costa Rica on his fourth, and last voyage to the west. This of course led to the extraordinary colonization of the new world by a tiny group of Spanish Higaldos. We thought it only fitting that a coffee that has conquered the European market for decades should be called "El Conquistador".
This coffee comes from the valley of Santa Maria Dota in the Tarrazu region. For many years, it was thought that the character of this unique coffee came from extra fermentation, but when processed with other Tarrazu's, it still maintained it's unique character. It was soon discovered that the winey characteristic the "Conquistador" had become known for come from it's unique micro climate, and for the first time we can now offer you this coffee.
The beans are fairly small and produce a coffee of exceptional density and heavy body. A unique coffee with a deep, sweet dark chocolate flavor unlike other Costa Rican coffees.
